The SVQ in Life Sciences and Related Industries at SCQF level 6 and 7 provides learners with an industry approved qualification that demonstrates they have the skills, knowledge and ability to carry out their role competently. Through the college attendance, the SCQF level 6 MA would provide the learner with a National Progression Award in Practical Science and the SCQF level 7 MA would provide the learner with a Professional Development Award in Laboratory Science.
Life Sciences and Related Industries Apprenticeships are ‘earn as you learn’ work (laboratory) based programmes with an additional educational component of attending college on a day-release basis to obtain a SQA approved science qualification.
The apprenticeships offer the opportunity to start work within the life science sector without the expected requirement of having a relevant science degree. These would be exciting opportunities for either new or existing members of staff to enhance their laboratory based skill set and enhance their knowledge and understanding of their particular lab based roles.
