Diplomas are aimed at individuals who are already employed. It is a work-based qualification, which combines building a portfolio of evidence with the opportunity to attend some of our technical training courses. What the Diploma offers is an exciting opportunity for a member of staff who already has experience to further enhance or update their skill set.
To get funding to do a Diploma (or even to be able to do one without funding) you must be employed (in a full time or part time job). This is because Diplomas are about showing you are competent to do a particular type of job.
Funding for Diplomas from Skills Development Scotland is only intended to cover part of the cost of a Diploma programme. Other costs are usually paid by your employer. They vary depending on the type of Diploma being undertaken.
