What we do:
YouTrain has been in business for 12 years, initially as part of Learning IT before being established as a separate company in 2006.
Our business is in vocational training and technical IT training. We are a Microsoft Gold Partner, a Microsoft Academy, and SQA Centre.
Vocational Training
• VQ programmes and Modern Apprenticeships in a range of occupational areas as well as in IT
• Recently chosen as Microsoft’s delivery partner for the new Microsoft IT Apprenticeship in Scotland.
Technical IT Training
• Microsoft training courses to prepare you for Microsoft certifications (MCP, MCSA, MCSE and also the new certifications in Windows 7)
• Career transition programmes for people made redundant and looking to improve their employment prospects as IT professionals
• Supported distance learning
Where we are:
Our head office is in Stirling and we are located in Stirling Enterprise Park, which is 5 minutes walk from Stirling Centre and bus and train stations. We offer excellent facilities for IT training in Scotland, since Stirling is highly central and an easy-to-reach location. You can reach us quickly from anywhere in Central Scotland, and from Perth, Dundee, Aberdeen or anywhere north of Stirling, we are obviously easier to reach than central Glasgow or Edinburgh. And we have free parking for visitors and customers always available outside our office!
History:
1997 – Learning IT established and grew to become Scotland’s leading IT training business based initially in Stirling then also in Glasgow and Inverness, winning several awards and plaudits including Business AM Business Gazelle award winner, Scottish Enterprise Best People Business award, the Sunday Times 100 Best Companies to Work For, was visited by the Prime Minister and others, and was sold to Baxi Partnership in 2005.
2006 – Buy out of part of the Learning IT business to create YouTrain, led by Duncan Macleod, Louise Findlay and Shirley Forbes, who had all worked together in Learning IT, with Duncan being co-founder and MD of Learning IT until leaving in 2005. The buy-out involved purchase of the vocational training and career transition divisions of the company and the set up of YouTrain Ltd as a separate company
2008 – Expanded into West Yorkshire with our vocational training business and opened an office in Halifax. Became Edexcel Approved Centre. Expanded range of vocational training offered.
2009 – In addition to our Career Transition course calendar of 6 week courses, started to offer Microsoft technical training certification courses to IT professionals. We also became a Microsoft Gold Partner and IT Academy. Selected as Microsoft delivery partner in Scotland for the new Microsoft IT Apprenticeship.
2009 – Partnering with Lit Screens on the Screentown initiative. YouTrain’s role is to provide the IT professional Apprenticeship training for Screentown’s young IT apprentices who are working on Screentown digital signage projects in town centres and elsewhere.
